How We Began

They said it would never work, but the Fish Shop opened its doors on the 4th of December 2014 with the ambition of bringing the freshest fish from around the UK to our friends and neighbours in Camberley, Surrey.

After spending her whole working life in the seafood industry, Sue longed to leave the corporate world and go back to her roots. She was desperate to open her own little fish shop where she could potter about, set up a pretty counter every morning, make a few fish pies and generally have a lovely time enjoying speaking to the few customers who might pop in for a bit of fish.

About to hit 50, her daughters Jasmine and Amber, and husband Duncan told her to either get on with it or stop talking about it. So, she took the plunge. Too scared to tell her Mum & Dad what she was up to, she set about looking for the perfect shop. She knew she wanted to be away from the town centre, having borne the scars of closing her mum and dad’s much-loved shop in 2000, and the Frimley Road seemed like the perfect location.

A busy thoroughfare, free parking, a wonderful established and successful independent butcher and only 25 seconds from home. So, when the shop we are now in became available, she knew it was ideal.

Since our opening, we have been amazed by the response, and it has been truly humbling to welcome visitors to our shop from near and far. We have made many wonderful friends and have shared both happy and sad times with many of our customers over the years.
